Global Reach’s Internet Marketing Team was invited to give a presentation on Search Engine Optimization at the Ames Chamber of Commerce Knowledge Bites Session in November. Knowledge Bites is an innovative and informative professional development program organized by the Ames Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Global Reach. The program covers a vast array of topics, all aimed at facilitating the professional growth of Ames Chamber members.
Global Reach’s own, Mackenzie Watts, Internet Marketing Specialist, and Katie Lanpher, Internet Marketing Manager, put together and presented a ‘Beginners Guide to SEO,’ a topic which was specifically requested by Ames Chamber members. While many businesses know a website is crucial in today’s marketing landscape, few know where to start when it comes to leveraging Search Engine Optimization to earn new customers.
The presentation provided a high level overview of how search engines crawl a website, but it also provided actionable and relevant advice which attendees could take away and realistically apply for their own business initiatives. From simple on-page optimization, to social media, pay per click advertising, and reputation management, the presentation discussed how SEO has expanded beyond using the right keywords in the right places to include an endless array of on and off-site factors, all playing together and contributing to a webpage’s position within search results. The presentation provided examples and how-to’s for establishing and leveraging a solid online presence, as well as an explanation of why doing so can eventually lead to increased search engine traffic.
The Knowledge Bites series consistently provides quality tools and tips intended to educate Chamber members. The program is essential in connecting Ames area business professionals and allows for the sharing of knowledge within the community.
